Crystal's range of Corrosion Probes

All corrosion probes from Crystal Industrial have the cost-saving feature electrodes that can be replaced, that play the two-fold role of corrosion coupons, providing a significant advantage over other electrochemical noise probe designs which use fixed electrodes. The electrode’s average corrosion rate, determined as coupon, is matched with that from the electrochemical measurements, providing verification of all of the important scaling factors, empirical and electrochemical, which cannot be obtained solely by electrochemical measurement.

Fixed
Corrosion Probes that cannot be removed under system pressure are at times used for reasons of cost effectiveness, testing in a laborator, operations that are light duty, or in case of special process limitations. These corrosion probes may be mounted with the aid of an NPT threaded connection. NPT connections are available and come in fixed or adjustable length.
Retractable
Retractable probes are best suited for directly being mountinto plant pipework or vessels and afford insertion or removal while still under system pressure. Retractable process probes are presented into the system via a stuffing box that is mounted external (from outside) to a valve. An exclusively designed retracting device is accessible for insertion or taking out of probes at pressures that are too high to allow safe operation manually by hand (pressures above 150 psi requires over 50 lb. insertion force).
Retrievable
Corrosion Probes that are removable in the influence of system pressure are specially useful to allow inspection or a change of probes without shutting down or isolating the system. Retrievable process probes are sealed into the system in a Crystal® access fitting. Another separate Crystal® service valve as well as a retriever is utilised for insertion and removal of the corrosion probes while still under system pressures.
